Like most guys at 25 I just wanted to get married

Like most guys at 25 I just wanted to get married even though I didn’t have two pennies to rub together, times were really tuff for me back then. It’s been around 6 years since I got married. My wife came from a very wealthy background mashallah, I, however, did not. My wife was very understanding with regards to this and wanted to marry me regardless.

Alhamdulliah I got married in East London at a cost of £500. My in laws decided to boycott the wedding as it wasn’t the million dollar show they dreamt about having for their little princess. Nevertheless, we arrived back to my parent’s house where we stayed for the next 2 years.

As I mentioned earlier I had very little to my name, I couldn’t afford a bed to sleep on, and I was stubborn to ask my parents for help. My brother had a spare used mattress which we decided to sleep on, there wasn’t a night I wouldn’t complain about the springs pressing into my back. My wife fell pregnant shortly after marriage, the 9 months was especially hard for her as the mattress was very uncomfortable. She would never complain though, but I knew if it was hurting me, it was killing her. I remember close to her due date, we both couldn’t sleep due to our back pain, I remember her saying, insha’Allah after Rumaisa our situation will change, she will come with her rizq and so will her siblings.

My sunflower Rumaisa was born and soon after my fortunes started to change literally overnight. My business started to do well, I bought a bed and then had enough money to finally move out. A year later, Hafsah was born, prior to her birth I started another business, that too started to do really well. And then 2 years later, Ibraheem was born and he too came with his rizq in the form of a 3rd business.

Why I shared this story?

Well, many a time people forget that Allah is the who gives rizq and his supply is unlimited, all you have to do is ask. I also wanted to point out the blessing of children, if I could I would have 4 children every 9 months! Children are an unbelievable blessing, regardless of your situation they come with their own rizq, so don’t worry about that, just keep them coming. And finally marrying a pious spouse makes the world of difference, my wife could have built 10-bed factories but she didn’t want to live off her parents and was patient about her situation. So marry someone who loves Allah, in turn, Allah will love her. I will leave you with a verse of the Noble Quran, ponder over it…

“And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent. [65:2-3]

If a child passes away, Allahﷻ says to His angels

If a child passes away, Allahﷻ says to His angels, ‘Did you take the soul of my servant’s child?’ And the angels would say yes. There upon Allah would say to them ‘Did you take away the apple of his/her heart?’ ‘Yes,’ the angels would reply. Then Allahﷻ asks them, ‘And what did my servant say?’ And the angels would say, ‘He/she has thanked You and committed all his/her affairs to You’ Then Allahﷻ would say, ‘Then build a house in paradise for My servant and name it the “House of Thankfulness” (at-Tirmidhi)FB_IMG_14786019200170000

How a 16 year old Saudi teen helped make the “hijabi emoji” a reality

Millions of Muslim women who wear the traditional headscarf are finally getting an emoji that represents them — and it’s all thanks to a teenage girl from Saudi Arabia.

In honor of World Emoji Day last Monday, Apple released a preview of 12 new emoji coming to users later this year. In between the icons of dinosaurs and sleepy-eyed zombies was an important new addition that marked a year’s worth of work for 16-year-old Rayouf Alhumedhi: the first-ever emoji of a woman wearing a hijab.

Alhumedhi’s emoji campaign started last year when realized she was the only one among her friends without an emoji that accurately resembled who she was. The student, who was born in Saudi Arabia but now lives in Vienna, Austria, set out to change that, spending two days in her bedroom drafting a proposal for a hijab-wearing emoji for the Unicode Consortium, a nonprofit corporation that manages the addition of new emoji.

“The fact that there wasn’t an emoji to represent me and the millions of other hijabi women across the world was baffling to me,” she told CNN. “I wanted to be represented, as simple as that. I just wanted an emoji of me.”

Other people agreed. Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian co-authored Alhumedhi’s proposal to Unicode, and helped Alhumedhi host an “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit where she fielded questions on the emoji and on representation for Muslims in general. Unicode also connected Alhumedhi with the award-winning graphic artist who worked with her to create the final design that will appear on millions of keypads this fall.

An issue of representation — and a topic of controversy

In recent years, the hijab and other Islamic veils have emerged as a topic of controversy, sparking heated discussions over the implications of the veil on religious freedom, women’s equality, and, more recently, national security.

In 2011, France became the first country in Europe to ban the full-face Islamic veil (called the niqab) in public places. This came after former French President Nicolas Sarkozy said in 2009 that the veil violates “women’s dignity,” and is “a sign of subservience and debasement.”

Various Muslim women have firmly rebuked Sarkozy’s comments and others like them, stating instead that wearing the veil makes them feel empowered and connected to their faith. Nonetheless, the issue has remained a testy subject as both Europe and the United States see a continual rise in anti-Muslim sentiment.

Alhumedhi’s headscarf-wearing emoji has not been spared from this debate.

“The hijab is a symbol of oppression,” wrote one user to Apple CEO Tim Cook. “By including it as an emoji you are showing your support for the oppression of women.” Others conflated the headscarf with terrorist activity:

Backlash to the emoji continues even though Alhumedhi has made it clear that it’s about representation, not politics. “Millions of women wear the headscarf and not just Muslim women,” she said to AJ+, a news site under the Qatar-based media group Al Jazeera. “Orthodox Jews, orthodox Christians, they pride themselves on wearing it.”

She added in an interview with CNN that it was important to her that they make the emoji available in various skin tones in order to ensure that the icon is accessible to all headscarf-wearing users. According to the emoji reference website Emojipedia, the “woman with headscarf” emoji will be available in four different skin tones when it’s launched this fall.

Alhumedhi also acknowledged that even though an emoji may seem like a small achievement, it has the potential to normalize a community of people who are often, and increasingly, misunderstood. If headscarf-wearing women start appearing in the phones of Apple users everywhere, she said, people might start to recognize “that we are normal people carrying out daily routines just like you.”

IMPORTANCE OF ASTAGHFIRULLAH

(Seeking forgiveness from Allah)
People often forget the importance of the simple yet powerful dua (supplication) –Istighfar i.e., saying “Astaghfirullah” (I seek forgiveness of Allah). Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recited this at least 100 times a day. Let us see the benefits and virtues of reciting this simple beautiful supplication insha Allah.
Istighfar (AstagInshallah) is the gateway of relief and happiness. Whenever you are in distress start reciting it and Insha Allah it will take you out of your anxiety and will put you in a peaceful situation and will give you happiness. Istighfar removes anxiety and duas are answered. Istighfar opens the door of sustenance. Istighfar opens the door of mercy. Istighfar opens the door of knowledge. Istighfar is also gateway of productivity. Istighfar relieves you. When you feel that sadness within you, when you are disturbed and frustrated, when anxiety surrounds you, say “Astaghfirullah” “Astaghfirullah”… Reciting Astaghfiruallah is an effective method of calming our self and wipes away the variety of worldly worries from our mind and body. It may also help us, if we are suffering from depression, it calm us and lessen our depression. Astaghfirullah also helps us to refrain from all forms of sins. Regularly saying this reminds us that Allah is everywhere and in this way there is very small chances of doing wrongful actions. Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,
“If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him
a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.” [Abu Dawud].
In another hadith, Abdullah bin Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said:
“The one who (regularly) says Istighfaar, that is, frequently repent to Allah
Ta’aala for sins committed, Allah Azza Wa-Jal will open a path from poverty and difficulties. All sorrow and hardship will be removed, and in its place prosperity and contentment granted. One will receive sustenance from unimagined and unexpected sources.”
Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has said in another Hadith:
“The one who seeks forgiveness for Muslim males and females from Allah
Ta’aala twenty six or twenty five times every day, Allah Ta’ala will count that person among those whose Du’a is accepted, and through the barakah of whom those on earth gain Rizq (sustenance).”
Do Tasbih of Astaghfaar at least 100 times daily as it is the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In one minute, you can say “Astaghfiru Allaah” more than 100 times! The virtue of seeking forgiveness is well-known, it is a reason of obtaining forgiveness, entering Paradise, having good provisions, increasing one’s strength, repelling harm, having affairs facilitated, the descent of rain, and increasing in wealth and children. The doors of repentance are always open therefore don’t delay your repentance in a hope of tomorrow, as tomorrow is uncertain ,Repent now and make it a habit of asking Allah’s forgiveness by reciting “Astaghfirullah”. Say I believe in Allah’s mercy, I have sinned, I have gone astray, I have been negligent, but still I believe in Allah’s soothing mercy and forgiveness, I’ll not despair!

The one who repents from sin is equivalent to one who has no sin

The one who repents from sin is equivalent to one who has no sin. Let’s all remember this simple reminder!

Committing sins is bad enough as none of us is free from sin, after all, we are humans, but instead of covering our sins in shame, many of us boast about these sinful actions on social media and make our Facebook friends witnesses to those sins on Judgment Day.

Let’s keep our sins hidden as we should keep our good deeds hidden too, after all, it is better to impress Allah with your deeds than the public, and it is Allah you seek forgiveness from for your sins.
Whatever we do, let’s keep it between us and Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala).

A bad friend is more dangerous than a snake because the worst a snake can do is poison and kill you, but a bad friend will mislead you and send you to Jahannam. So choose your friends wisely, for even the comments you write are recorded.
